For Grades 4-8
Students in grades 4-8 have begun to do research projects and have more complex homework. The Library can help!
Live Homework Help
The Library subscribes to Tutor.com so students can get help from a live tutor after school. The tutors are well-trained and well-monitored, and Tutor.com hires tutors in all of the usual school subjects. The tutors can guide students to finding solutions to math problems, can give direction on science projects and can even help you write your papers. The tutors do not give the answers but help students get to the right results.
You will need your library card to use this service, and you are limited to five sessions per week. Live Homework Help is available every day 3-10pm.
Forgot your book at school?
We have textbooks from our local schools, including Culver, Apollo, Nelson, Stevenson, Twain, Washington, and St. John Brebeuf. We need to keep the books available for all students, so they cannot be checked out, but you can use them in the Library or make copies.
Doing a research project?
We have many subscription resources that can help you with your homework, including encyclopedias, magazines, The New Book of Popular Science, and many others. The list of information resources that we think are the best for grades 4-8 are here, but you can find the full list of all of the library's subscription resources here.
Do you need information on a subject?
The librarians in KidSpace and Teen Services are all very experienced at helping you find the information you need. Don't be afraid to ask for help--that's what we are here for!
