Teachers

The Library offers special services to our schools and its teachers. We love to work in partnership with our schools, and are always willing to work with you on developing programs and presentations.

Teacher Cards

Any teacher whose school is located in the Library District can receive a teacher card free of charge, regardless of their home address. Books checked out on a teacher card have a three-week loan period and can be renewed if they are not on hold. DVDs may be checked for three weeks. Teachers are responsible for the materials checked out on their cards.

Please download the Teacher Card Statement of Responsibility and Teacher Card Information Sheet. Please send your Teacher Card Statement of Responsibility to Patron Services.

Teacher Requests

Our Teacher Loan Coordinator, Cate Levinson, will select books for you. The materials will be checked out to you on your teacher card, and delivered to your school. Fill out a Teacher Loan Request Form online or call Youth Services at 847-663-6622 to make your request over the phone. If you have any questions, email clevinso@nileslibary.org.

Virtual Classroom Visits

Our school liaisons regularly virtually visit our local schools. The school liaison usually schedules their visits through the School Media Specialists, but you can contact any of the liaisons to arrange for a special virtual visit. With enough advance notice, they can prepare presentations on subjects like science fair projects. They can read stories or deliver book talks to get kids excited about reading.

Library Visits

Reach out to our school liaisons for a presentation of some kind and a tour. We also work with entire schools who want to make a Literacy Night visit with parents! Contact our school liaisons above to make arrangements.
