Need community service hours, want to pad your resume, or just enjoy spending time at the library? We can use your help! Whether you’re looking for just a few hours or something more permanent, there are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for you. Read more about them below, and then contact your young adult librarians to get started. Come join a friendly group of teens that meet the first Saturday of each month to discuss books and movies, plan programs and work on special projects. All junior high and high school students are welcome. Contact librarian Mary Miller for more information at 847-663-6618.
Each summer, talented local teens put on a play at the library. There’s a role for everyone whether it’s writing, acting, directing, creating sets and costumes, or running the lights and sound. We work hard, but also have fun and celebrate with pizza! Contact librarian Donna Block for more information at 847-663-6434.
There’s always something to be done in the reference department. Ongoing tasks might include organizing the newspapers and magazines or cleaning the computer screens, but special projects also crop up. For instance, we may need help creating a display or weeding worn out books. Contact librarian Donna Block for more information at 847-663-6434. Are you a Wii or Xbox expert? You could assist us during our gaming events! Help us set up the game systems, show newbies how to use the controllers, suggest games for future events and keep things running smoothly. Contact your young adult librarians for more information. |
