Full-time, Non-exempt, 37.5 hours per week
Days which may coincide with the start of the school day or run through a Family Literacy Night plus one night per week and one Saturday and Sunday per month.
Do you like working with kids & teens? Are you highly organized and conscientious about details? Passionate about sharing books with kids? Comfortable moving from classroom to classroom promoting all the Library has to offer? Able to manage noisy, active environments, comfortable adapting to change, and play well with others?
We are looking for a candidate with the people and professional skills to provide outstanding customer service both in the Library, and as our representative in our area schools. Our Youth Services School Liaison cultivates relationships with our area public and private schools. They visit students in the school media center and the classroom to provide storytimes, book talks, and promote all elements of the Library. They promote teacher services to school staff. They also host classroom and homeschool tours in the building. They attend the back-to-school nights and open houses to present our array of services to parents.
Program oversight includes Battle of the Books and Reading Challenge, Summer and Winter Reading promotion, and coaching our Summer Reading volunteers. Collection development responsibilities include, but are not limited to fiction and series paperback within our department collection development strategy. And of course, other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited school; at least 2 years of recent, relevant public library experience working with children and teens; excellent customer service, communication, and technology skills; computer literacy, and excellent internet searching skills; proficient with Microsoft Outlook Office Suite; willing to embrace change and new technology; current driver’s license; ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally transport/move up to 100 pounds.
Preference given to applicants who are bilingual in English and proficient in Arabic, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish or any of the other 30 languages spoken in the homes of the patrons we are happy to serve.

Annual Salary:
$47,818-$53,500, based on qualifications and experience.
