Facility Services Supervisor

Full Time, Exempt
Hours: 37.5 hours/week. Schedule is a combination of days, evening and weekend coverage as needed.
Salary: Starts at $59,000 depending on qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Core Management

  • Key member of the Management Team with facilities management experience.
  • Provide leadership and management of the Facility Services department.
  • Represent the department at internal and external meetings.
  • Hire, train, coach, supervise and evaluate maintenance and security assistants; manage team performance; communicate as needed with patron and staff.
  • Assist in the creation of the Library’s annual budget and manage the parts of the budget related to the department’s activities throughout the year.
  • Create department schedule that meets the Library’s workflow needs across open hours.
  • Respond to all security and fire alarms.

Building Maintenance Management

  • Conduct routine inspections of 65,000 sq. ft. building and equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs of equipment or structures.
  • Plan and supervise all inspections, preventative maintenance, installations, and repairs of building infrastructure.
  • Anticipate and budget for all major facility maintenance projects.
  • Assist with securing public bids or quotes for supplies and contracted maintenance.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and sanitary conditions throughout the building and grounds.
  • Manage meeting room set-ups for Library and public programs including special events.

Security

  • Open and/or close the Library.
  • Provide security to maintain a safe and secure environment for patrons and staff.
  • Assist the PIC with Library Policy implementation and patron complaints.

Qualifications

  • Any combination of education, experience, or training that satisfies the requirements of the position.
  • The work requires mechanical skill, initiative, and independent judgment.
  • 3 years of experience in maintaining a physical plant preferred.
  • Experience in planning, budgeting, and staff development for a Maintenance department preferred.
  • A valid Illinois Driver’s License and proof of safe driving record.
  • Current car insurance, including collision coverage.
  • Ability to work with detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to interact positively with patrons and co-workers of all backgrounds.
  • Basic Microsoft Office software use.
  • If not a U.S. citizen, has a valid work permit.
