Adult & Outreach Services Librarian
The Niles-Maine District Library seeks a self-motivated, innovative and detail-oriented individual for a full-time Librarian position (37.5 hours/week). Major duties include staffing the reference desk, providing readers services, collection development, programming and community engagement. The ideal candidate will be tech-savvy, be able to promote library services, and have excellent customer services skills. Must be able to work effectively within a team environment. Some evenings and weekends required. MLIS or MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program required; current Library Science candidates in an accredited program may be considered with prior library experience. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Annual salary from $43,412 to $55,000 (based on qualifications and experience), IMRF and excellent benefits. PATRON SERVICES ASSOCIATE II
Four Positions Available:
(1) Sunday, 12:30-5 PM; Saturday 8:30 AM-2 PM (10 hrs/wk)
(2) Monday, 1-5 PM; Tuesday, 5-9 PM; Thursday, 1-5 PM (12 hrs/wk)
(3) Monday, 5-9 PM; Thursday, 5-9 PM (8 hrs/wk)
(4) Wednesday, 1-5 PM; Saturday, 9 AM-5 PM (11.5 hrs/wk)
The Niles-Maine District Library is currently accepting applications for part-time positions in the Patron Services Department. Patron Services Associates greet and direct library patrons to materials and services. They perform Circulation, Information and Passport Desk functions, as well as other duties as assigned. Major Responsibilities will include shelve recently returned materials; register patrons for library cards and programs; assist patrons with holds, using copiers, computers/printers, etc.; able to count money and perform basic operations on cash register; accept passport applications. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills. Will be able to work effectively with both patrons and staff. Skills/Experience/Education Needed: (1) year of library and/or retail experience with a focus on customer service. Must be 18 years of age. Position requires completion of Passport Acceptance Agent Training. Upon completion of Passport Acceptance Agent training, employee will become an Associate I. Ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
