Flight Path Grant

We are excited to announce that Niles-Maine District Library is one of 200 recipients of a Flight Path Grant, an initiative that focuses on the science of birds and bird migration.

This grant will help bring awareness to the struggles that migratory birds face as they navigate past buildings in cities and towns many birds travel through. Buildings with large glass windows are particularly harmful to migratory birds. In the U.S. alone, more than one billion birds die a year from window strikes.

Each library that was selected to receive these funds will be hosting informational sessions about birds, bird identification, and what we can do to keep our birds safe as they migrate through our area.
