What’s Next?

Text: Personalized Recommendations for Kids, Teens, Adults. What's Next?

Have you ever stared at the shelves full of books at the library, unable to know what to choose next? If you answered yes, you’re not alone. There are so many titles and genres. If only someone could guide me to my next great read…

You’re in luck! That’s exactly what the library’s  What’s Next? service is all about. The interested reader fills out a quick webform (links for Adults, Teens, and Kids can be found below).

And if you’re thinking, “Well I don’t need someone to tell me that I should read more fantasy if I like fantasy,” you’d be right. The questions on the forms are designed to get much deeper than the genre level.

Here’s a sample question from the Teen form:

What kind of Narrator do you enjoy (Check all that apply)?

  •  First Person: Hi, I’m the narrator. Let me tell you my story!
  • Third Person: They tell you a story about one or more characters.
  • Omniscient: They know EVERYTHING about the characters in the story they tell.
  • Unreliable: Hi, I’m the narrator. I’m also lying to you. Or am I?

With the What’s Next? service, you’re in good hands. Librarians will look at the information you’ve provided, and they will match you with a new book or author to continue your reading journey.

And for a little more, the newest episode of the library’s podcast, Checking In, Checking Out looks a little closer at this service.

Fill out one of the forms linked below, and soon enough, you’ll be in the middle of a wonderful new book!
