The school buses are rolling again, backpacks are packed, and somewhere out there a kid is already asking how many days until winter break. Whatever this season looks like in your home, the Library is here to make it a little easier.
This year we’re expanding what we offer for students after the school day ends and want to remind you of some old staples to support you and your family with the back to school shift.
New After-School Programs
Reader’s Theater
Calling all kids in grades 1-6 with a flair for the dramatic!
In this brand-new program series, library staff will collaborate with kids to turn beloved picture books into short plays.
Taking a story from the page to the stage requires a lot of teamwork. Great friendships can be formed when people work together towards a shared goal. Attendees should be prepared to be creative, collaborative, and take healthy risks.
When asked what she’s most excited about for this program, Youth Services Librarian Cate says, “I’m most excited to see great picture books come to life!”
- Wednesday, September 16, 6-7 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 23, 6-7 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 30, 6-7 p.m.
Middle Ground Gaming
On Wednesdays from 3-5 p.m. the KidSpace program room is reserved for kids in 5th-8th grade, because middle school deserves its own hangout spot too! Drop in to play video games, board games, and everything in between with their age. No little siblings, no grown-up agenda, just a chance to game and chill.
Homework Help, Any Day You Need It
Sometimes the hardest part of homework is just getting started. Stop by the Library on Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for Homework Help from our dedicated team of teen volunteers. Need help on a different day? We’ve still got you covered with support from Brainfuse with free online tutoring.
Want to learn more? Join Library staff on September 12 from 2-3 p.m. to learn how Brainfuse works and how you can use it to support your child, whether they’re starting kindergarten, finishing high school, or anywhere in between.
Here’s to a great school year, with a little backup from your library.
