Tech Up programs at Niles-Maine District Library are for adults who are new to using a computer or want to brush up on their computer skills. Whether you are brushing up or learning a brand-new skill, everyone is welcome to learn at their own pace.
Staff will help attendees create a free Northstar Digital Literacy account and get started. The program is self-guided and allows participants to build their digital confidence at their own pace through video tutorials and hands-on exercises. Participants can continue using Northstar for free at home.
“Digital literacy is essential for everyday life,” says library staff member, Bernadetta, “So many services and applications are now digital, and everyone should have equal access to the skills they need to succeed. Whether you’re applying for a job, taking a driving test, renewing a license, checking Social Security information, or participating in a court hearing, having basic computer skills can make these tasks easier and more accessible.”
