Summer Reading

June 9 – August 10
Pre-Readers (Ages 0-5 Recommended)
Readers (Grades K-8 Recommended)

Register in-person starting June 9 in KidSpace or online in Beanstack. Readers will read a bit everyday, pre-readers will share a story or learning moment everyday. Retrieve your checkpoint prizes at days 10, 20 and 30, along with a drawing ticket for a Grand Prize. Additionally, kids can visit the library each day to play a quick minute to win it game. Readers earn beads for the visits and pre-readers earn a weekly trip to the treasure chest.

June 1-August 31
Grades 7-12

Log the time you spend reading in Beanstack to earn prizes! Get a free book and a Glummy keychain when you sign up. Every 2 hours you read earns you an entry in the Grand Prize drawing. of your choice and 5 hours earns you a special space-themed treat. Win the activities Bingo two different ways to earn a summer fun tote bag filled with goodies and a book.

Grand Prize Drawing:

• Star Gazer Package – Includes a telescope and stargazing supplies
• Space Explorer Package – Includes a Family Star Pass to the Adler Planetarium or an American Science & Surplus gift card of equal value

Ages 18 and Up

Pick up a log at the Second Floor Desk, or log your reads on the Library’s website submission form or Beanstack. Finish your first log to receive a prize while supplies last. Each log you submit is an additional entry for one of three Grand Prizes. Winner will be announced in early September.

Read for the Stars: The Next Frontier! Get creative in our Maker Space and discover cool online resources at the Niles-Maine District Library. Pick up a log at the Lower Level Desk or fill out a Beanstack activity log.

Complete 15 of 25 fun activities to earn a $5 coupon to use toward one 3D print or one Maker Space supply, plus a drawing ticket for a Grand Prize.

Grand Prize Drawing:

• $50 Amazon gift card and a guaranteed spot in a fall Maker program of your choice.
