Welcome to Niles-Maine Seed Library!

A table with a seed library and associated advertising featuring seeds for different plants for library patrons to take. In the background, library books on shelves. Image contains text that reads: Niles-Maine Seed Library on a poster and on the cover of a binder.

We’re excited to offer free seeds to our community to support home gardening, sustainability, and the joy of growing your own food and flowers. A seed library works like a traditional lending library—but instead of books, it offers seeds! Our collection includes a variety of herbs, vegetables, and flowers, making it a great way to explore gardening at your own pace.

Visit the Seed Library on the main floor in the Commons area to grab some new and exciting seeds to try. Just stop by during regular library hours and take home up to five seed packets per family per visit. No library card is needed, and there’s no checkout process.

 How It Works:

  • No library card required
  • Free for everyone – all seeds are available at no cost for personal use
  • Limit five seed packets per family per visit
  • Plant and enjoy your garden
  • Share your success – Email a photo of your harvest by September 30th to enter our Harvest Photo Contest. Send entries to: digitalservices@nileslibrary.org
  • Win a prize – Two photo contest winners will receive a gift card to Lurvey Home & Garden

We can’t wait to see what you grow—happy planting!
