This summer, use the library as your launch pad to blast off into a new adventure! Patrons of all ages are invited to participate in reading challenges and other activities for a chance to win some out-of-this-world prizes. This year, we are adding the option to use Beanstack for our adult readers, and for those who participate in the Digital Services challenge. For more information about what is available for different age groups, read on.

Be sure to check out the Library’s calendar for quick access to all of our space-themed summer programming. Ready, set, blast off!

We have two summer reading programs for young patrons: Pre-readers for younger children under the age of 5 who aren’t ready to read by themselves just yet, and Readers for kids between the grades of K-8. Both Pre-readers and Readers can pick up their reading logs from KidSpace, though Pre-readers will need help from a caregiver to fill out their log. Kids will earn checkpoint prizes after ten, twenty, and thirty days of reading, and every child who finishes the challenge will also receive a special invitation to the End of Summer Reading Event! Summer reading for kids is June 9-August 10.

Teens

Teens between the grades of 7-12 are eligible to participate in the Teen summer reading challenge. Interested readers should visit the Teen Underground desk to pick up a Black Hole Bingo card, which will be used to keep track of completed activities. Teens can also log their reading time on Beanstack in order to earn entries in the grand prize drawings. Summer reading for teens is June 1-August 31.

Adults

Adult patrons over the age of 18 can participate in summer reading by submitting either a paper form at the library, or a digital form on our website. They can also create a Beanstack account to record reading materials online. Summer reading for adults is June 1-August 31.

Everyone

Everyone is welcome to join the Digital Services summer challenge by picking up an activity checklist from the Lower Level desk or by using Beanstack! Patrons over 18 can participate as individuals, while patrons under 18 will need to participate with an adult. The Digital Services summer challenge will run from June 1-August 31.

One of the Digital Services challenges is to download and submit a file for 3D printing. For that challenge, use one of these featured designs, and be sure to include “Summer Reading” in the notes field. Please note: Patrons are limited to one free 3D submission per participant over the summer.
